DATAB & KUMATECH: Efficient automation of internal logistics thanks to Pallet Jack

DataB Mailservice

“How can we more efficiently automate and improve our logistics processes within the company?” That was the question Data B Mailservice B.V. of Leek wrestled with. Specifically, they were looking for a solution to automate the transport of pallets – which are now transported with a standard pallet truck. As a result, the machine operators would not lose hours on logistics operations and these hidden lost hours could be added back into the production process. After thorough research, they chose the Pallet Jack from Kumatech.

Implemented in just 3 days

The Pallet Jack rides on floor structure which means that no structural modifications are required at the Data B Mailservice B.V. location in Leek. As a result, the Pallet Jack can be used directly in existing logistics processes. The implementation was carried out by the Kumatech team directly on site in Leek and was completed in just 3 days. Peter Loos, production team leader at Data B Mailservice B.V., is enormously satisfied with the approachability and speed of the on-site implementation. “I am very pleased with the implementation of Pallet Jack within our company. What struck me immediately was the approachability of the entire process. From the initial conversation to the on-site implementation, everything went smoothly. The speed of implementation was impressive and within just 3 days the Pallet Jack was operational. This allowed us to immediately improve the efficiency of our internal logistics.

Increases productivity

The pallet jack is designed to move pallets quickly and efficiently from one location to another within the warehouse. This significantly increases productivity at Data B’s warehouse. Another benefit of using automated pallet jacks is improved safety for employees on the shop floor. This type of equipment operates along designated paths on the shop floor, minimizing the risk of injury from loading and unloading pallets. “Employees sometimes make mistakes, but the automated Pallet Jack doesn’t make these human errors,” adds John Jaspers, manager at Kumatech.

Kumatech’s Pallet Jack thus offers an efficient, affordable, and fast solution for automating logistics processes at Data B Mailservice. “The implementation at Data B Mailservice was quick and efficient and has resulted in a significant improvement in their internal logistics. We are proud to say that the Pallet Jack has played a key role in the successful automation of Data B Mailservice’s logistics processes,” said John Jaspers.

Send simple transport orders via the TMA

The AGV is robust, sturdy, and strong, and can lift up to 1,000 kg. With its powerful lithium battery, the AGV has a runtime of up to 12 hours. The Pallet Jack is also easy to operate thanks to the Traffic Management App (TMA). This web-based app, which works on any mobile device, generates transport orders and tracks which locations are available, occupied, or reserved. The dashboard provides an at-a-glance view of the system’s performance. “The TMA is a great solution for our company because it’s easy to use and doesn’t rely on third-party integrations. This also made implementation quick and easy,” says Peter Loos of Data B.

Specialist in cross-media document flows

Data B. Mailservice B.V. specializes in cross-media document workflows, with a strong focus on transactional mail. Since 1991, they have been managing the physical and digital document workflows for a wide variety of clients. In this way, they relieve clients of the burden of printing, enveloping, and mailing (confidential) documents, as well as sending digital messages such as those from “Mijn Overheid” and DigiD messages or “regular” mailings. The company is based in Leek, Groningen.

Data B. Mailservice B.V.’s equipment is comprised of high-quality printers and envelope stuffing machines capable of handling large volumes of documents. For example, most of Data B. Mailservice B.V.’s machines can handle about 20,000 prints per hour. This enables them to more than meet the daily capacity demands of their customers.
