KUMATECH now offers the option to upgrade the Pallet Jack and Forklift Joe AGV models with a 3D detection camera (blue). This innovative addition provides even greater visibility and control of the surroundings when needed, complementing our existing safety sensors (yellow).
This option is available on all new Pallet Jacks and Forklift Joes, but also can be integrated into existing Jacks and Joes which are already in daily use in factories and production halls. With this, KUMATECH is once again taking a step towards safe, future-proof internal logistics, without the need for major modifications or the replacement of existing systems.
Why a 3D Detection camera on our AGVs?
Our AGVs are equipped as standard with reliable and certified safety sensors. In many cases, this is more than sufficient. At the same time, we notice certain situations require additional environmental information, when there is a lot of activity involving protruding loads in dynamic environments around the AGV’s route, for example. In this type of production environments, the 3D Detection Camera adds an extra layer of safety: depth perception.
As the safety sensors scan horizontally, the 3D camera analyses the surroundings in three dimensions. This allows the AGV to perceive objects as volumes rather than outlines, giving it a more complete picture of what is around and in front of the vehicle. The AGV simply sees more and can respond appropriately.
The power of the combination
The combination of the existing safety sensors and the new 3D detection camera creates a robust and reliable system with more safety and efficiency. The additional layer of detection contributes to:
